Shield Training Ltd is committed to ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of all learners, staff, contractors, and visitors during the delivery of training.
1. Policy Statement
We recognise our legal responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and associated regulations. We are committed to maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment.
2. Responsibilities
Management is responsible for:
Providing safe training facilities
Conducting risk assessments
Maintaining safe equipment
Ensuring emergency procedures are in place
Trainers are responsible for:
Delivering training safely
Supervising learners appropriately
Reporting hazards or incidents
Learners are responsible for:
Following safety instructions
Wearing appropriate clothing where required
Reporting hazards or injuries
3. Risk Assessments
Risk assessments are conducted for:
Classroom delivery
Physical Intervention training
Practical exercises
Equipment use
Control measures are implemented to reduce risk to an acceptable level.
4. First Aid
A first aid kit is available at training venues.
Incidents are recorded in an incident log.
Emergency procedures are communicated at the start of each course.
5. Fire Safety
Learners are informed of fire exits and assembly points.
Fire evacuation procedures are followed where required.
6. Physical Intervention Safety
Where Physical Intervention training is delivered:
The training area will be clear of hazards
Appropriate spacing will be maintained
Participants will be medically fit to participate
Activities will be supervised by qualified trainers
7. Reporting Incidents
All accidents, injuries, and near misses must be reported immediately to the trainer and recorded.
8. Review
This policy is reviewed annually or when significant changes occur.
